The Story County Animal Shelter is dedicated to serving the public and safeguarding the well-being of animals within our county and under our care. We strive to provide a safe, compassionate environment for every animal while facilitating their journey to a forever home.

We are proud to oversee and address animal control issues and concerns throughout rural Story County, alongside 12 partner cities that share our commitment to animal welfare. Our team of dedicated individuals works tirelessly to enforce humane ordinances, respond to community reports, and manage limited wildlife concerns, ensuring a safer environment for both people and pets.
