Our Mission
The Cats of Salt Spring Rescue Society is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to improving the well-being of all cats, both domesticated and feral, here on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.
Supporting Our Island Community
We are a volunteer-run organization that relies entirely on public donations and community support to provide life-changing care for stray, abandoned, and community cats. By addressing the unique needs of cats in our region, we help ensure every feline has the opportunity to live a life of comfort and security.
Our Foster-Based Model
We operate as a network of dedicated volunteers who bring cats and kittens into their own homes, providing a safe and gentle environment for those needing socialization, specialized care, or recovery. Our kittens stay with their mothers until they are ready for adoption, and we carefully match each cat with a foster home that can best meet their specific physical and emotional needs.
Building Lifelong Bonds
We believe that successful adoption is a partnership built on a best-fit approach rather than a first-come, first-serve basis. Our adoption counsellors work closely with prospective families to ensure that every placement considers the unique personality and history of the cat, creating a joyful, lasting connection between you and your new furry family member.
