At Golden Years Dog Sanctuary, we believe in the power of second chances. Our 501c3 nonprofit is dedicated to rescuing senior and at-risk dogs and cats from the shelter system to give them the loving, dignified lives they deserve.
Founded in 2018, our sanctuary emerged from a lifelong passion for animal rescue and a desire to address the critical needs of older, vulnerable animals. We operate out of Goldspirit Farm in Sylmar, California, a space established by founder Susan Friend LeTourneur that has served as a safe haven for animals in need since 1999.
We believe every senior pet deserves a golden experience, not just a place to wait. Our sanctuary residents enjoy a specialized, comfortable environment on our eleven-acre farm, complete with climate-controlled 'dogominiums,' custom bedding, and expansive play areas. Because we are limited in physical space, we also rely on a compassionate foster network to extend our reach and save even more lives.
Adopting a senior pet is a deeply rewarding partnership that brings unconditional love into your home. These wise, grateful souls often have plenty of energy and affection to share, proving that being a senior is truly just a state of mind. When you open your heart to a senior dog or cat, you provide them with the best of the rest of their life while gaining a devoted companion.
Whether you are ready to welcome a new best friend into your home or want to support our mission, we invite you to connect with us. Please visit our adoptable pets page, browse our volunteer opportunities, or contact us to schedule a visit to meet the pack. Your support, advocacy, and love make our work possible.
