Paws Humane Society is dedicated to keeping pets out of the shelter system and in loving, permanent homes. We serve as an Animal Resource Center that unites people and pets, building partnerships and creating solutions to become a no-kill community.
Our journey began with two passionate groups: the Muscogee County Humane Society, founded in 1969 to provide a safe haven for stray animals, and PAWS Columbus, established in 1999 to focus on proactive prevention. In 2009, these organizations joined forces to create a comprehensive solution for animal welfare in the Chattahoochee Valley. Today, we are proud to serve as the official steward of animal care and control for Columbus, continuing our legacy of growth and compassion.
We operate as a solution-based community resource, offering everything from professional veterinary care and spay/neuter services to outreach programs like Pets for Life. By providing affordable medical resources and support, we help keep pets with the families who love them while ensuring that every animal in our care receives professional attention. Our work is powered by a dedicated network of volunteers, foster families, and donors who make our no-kill vision a reality.
When you choose to adopt, you aren't just bringing home a pet; you are joining a compassionate community that values the human-animal bond. We take care to support our adopters, ensuring that every match is built on trust, preparation, and a commitment to lifelong care. Your decision to adopt provides a second chance to a deserving animal and helps us create a more humane future for our region.
Whether you are ready to welcome a new companion, interested in fostering, or wish to support our programs through a donation, there is a place for you in our story.
