Russell Rescue of Tennessee is an all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and finding loving forever homes for abandoned, abused, and injured Jack Russell Terriers and other small dogs across the South.
Founded in 2006 by Mary Ruth Rogers in Columbia, TN, our organization was created to provide a lifeline for small dogs that are frequently overlooked in shelters. Over the years, we have grown into a dedicated network of volunteers spanning several states, successfully saving hundreds of dogs each year.
We are a foster-based organization, which means our rescues thrive in loving home environments rather than kennel settings. Every dog we rescue receives essential medical care—including vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, and microchipping—before finding their way to a new family. Because we are an all-volunteer team, every facet of our mission is fueled by the time, talent, and generosity of supporters like you.
We believe in building lifelong, successful partnerships between our dogs and their new families. To ensure the best fit, we offer a thoughtful adoption process that includes a trial period, allowing you and your new companion time to adjust to one another. Our goal is to provide a smooth, transparent transition for both you and your new four-legged family member.
If you are ready to open your heart and home, we invite you to explore our adoptable dogs page to find your new best friend. You can also support our life-saving work by considering becoming a foster parent, volunteering your time, or setting up a recurring monthly donation. Together, we can ensure every small dog gets the loving future they deserve.
