Spay the Strays is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, abandoned, and at-risk cats in Central Florida. We strive to provide every cat in our care with a safe, loving second chance at life.
Founded in 2006 by Anita Sanders, our rescue began with the story of a single cat named Callie. Over the years, our compassionate team has grown into a dedicated network of volunteers across Orange and Osceola Counties, working together to address the urgent need for cat rescue in our local communities.
We operate as a foster-based rescue, meaning we do not have a physical shelter or clinic. Instead, our cats live in warm, volunteer-run foster homes where they receive individualized attention, medical care, and socialization until they are ready for their forever families.
We believe that finding the perfect match is a joyful experience that begins with patience and understanding. Because every cat is unique, our process includes interviews and home visits to ensure each kitty transitions successfully into your home, helping you build a lasting bond based on trust and love.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our adoptable cats online or visit us at our adoption events to see them in person. Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer your time, or support our efforts through a donation, you play a vital role in helping us provide a brighter future for cats in need.
