At the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, we exist to help animals and people live better together. We are dedicated to creating a community where every animal is treated humanely and finds the love they deserve.
Our journey began in 1913, when Hall County school teacher Bessie Bickers, known as Miss Bessie, dedicated her life to saving homeless animals. Using her own resources, she established a safe haven that eventually grew into the organization we are today at 845 West Ridge Road.
We believe in providing comprehensive support for our animal friends. Beyond our adoption center, we operate the Christian-David Healthy Pet Clinic, which provides affordable veterinary care to ensure pets stay happy and healthy in their homes. Through foster networks, community outreach, and our dedicated adoption team, we work tirelessly to advance animal welfare throughout the region.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you find the perfect match for your family. Our team is committed to understanding the unique needs of every animal, ensuring that you have the resources and support necessary to grow alongside your new companion. We want your experience to be rewarding, positive, and full of life.
There are many ways to get involved, from meeting our adoptable animals to supporting our mission through local events. We invite you to visit our adoption center or explore our website to discover how you can make a difference today. Together, we can continue Miss Bessie’s vital work of building a kinder world for animals.
