Our Mission
The Arizona Animal Welfare League is dedicated to providing excellent care, protection, and loving compassion for every animal entrusted to us. We take a leadership role in promoting humane values for the benefit of all animals and the people who love them.
Our Story
Founded in 1971 by animal lovers, including television star Amanda Blake, we have grown from a small group of dedicated volunteers into Arizona’s oldest and largest no-kill shelter. Today, we remain committed to being a beacon of hope, rescuing and rehabilitating thousands of dogs and cats that deserve a second chance at a happy life.
How We Help
Operating as a no-kill organization, we provide a safe haven for animals in need, primarily rescuing those from local county shelters that lack the resources to care for them. Our pets benefit from an on-site veterinary clinic, a dedicated behavior department, and a robust network of nearly 90 foster families who provide extra love and socialization. Every animal in our care is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before finding their forever home.
