Our Mission
Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center is dedicated to ending companion animal homelessness in Camden County through community awareness and responsible ownership. We are committed to providing a safe, compassionate haven for every animal that needs us, right when they need us most.
Our History and Community
Founded by the Camden County Board of Chosen Commissioners in 1997, we have grown into the largest open-admission animal shelter in New Jersey. Serving 13 municipalities, our work is driven by the belief that every pet deserves a quality life, regardless of their past. We are proud to operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, continuously evolving to better serve our local community and the animals who depend on us.
Providing Exceptional Care
Our facility is designed for comfort and recovery, featuring glass-walled acquaintance rooms and state-of-the-art surgical suites that ensure our residents have the best possible stay. Every day, our dedicated team provides medical care, nutrition, and love to hundreds of animals while they await their forever families. Thanks to these efforts, we have achieved an industry-leading live release rate of 96%.
