At the Jefferson County Humane Society, we are dedicated to providing loving, exceptional care for cats and dogs of all ages and needs. Our goal is to ensure every animal in our care receives the support they deserve as they wait for their forever home.
Established in 1998, our organization was founded by a group of concerned citizens in Jefferson County, Kansas, to address the needs of stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals. Today, our board members continue to work tirelessly to ensure the well-being of every animal and the smooth operation of our facility.
We are a proud no-kill animal shelter that strives to maintain a safe and healthy environment for every pet. We invest significant time and resources into saving animals who might not otherwise have a second chance, with a live-release rate that consistently exceeds 90%. Our primary priority is always the health, safety, and future of the animals we serve.
Every animal has a story, and we believe in the power of finding the perfect match between a pet and their new family. We gather detailed information about each animal’s personality and medical needs to ensure successful, lifelong adoptions. When you choose to adopt from us, your new companion comes with essential care already provided, including spay or neuter services, vaccinations, de-worming, and microchipping.
We invite you to visit our shelter in Valley Falls to meet the wonderful dogs and cats currently waiting for their families. Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or support our mission, we welcome you to join us in making a difference.
