Our Mission
The Humane Society of Kodiak is committed to preventing animal cruelty, reducing the homeless and abandoned pet population, and promoting the proper care of animals throughout the Kodiak Archipelago.
Serving Kodiak Since 1995
Our organization has been serving the community for decades, and in 1995, we were contracted by the City of Kodiak to operate the local animal shelter. In 1997, thanks to incredible community support, we transitioned to a No Kill shelter for all our friendly, adoptable animals.
How We Care for Animals
As an open-admission shelter, we provide a safe, nurturing environment for every animal that comes through our doors. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide physical examinations, necessary medical treatments, vaccinations, and spay/neuter services to ensure every pet is ready for their new life. We also rely on a robust foster network to provide specialized care for animals who need extra comfort, socialization, or recovery time outside of the shelter environment.
