The Humane Society of Westchester is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the vital bond between humans and animals through compassionate care, treatment, and public education. We believe that pet ownership is a lifetime commitment and strive to create a brighter future for the animals in our community.
Since our founding in 1911, our organization has evolved from a local group of animal advocates into a modern, professional shelter serving 19 communities in Westchester County. Today, we continue that long-standing tradition of kindness, ensuring that every animal in our care receives the respect and protection they deserve.
As a no-kill shelter, we provide a safe, modern transitional home for lost, stray, abandoned, and injured animals until they find their permanent families. Our facility, fully renovated to provide a low-stress environment with plenty of natural light, is operated by a dedicated team of professionals who ensure every resident receives proper nutrition, medical care, and daily enrichment.
We are deeply committed to successful, long-term adoptions by carefully matching each animal’s unique personality and needs with the right family. Our adoption counselors work closely with you to understand your lifestyle, ensuring a joyful and lasting partnership between you and your new companion. Because we prioritize these thoughtful connections, we encourage potential adopters to visit us to meet our wonderful residents in person.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or support our programs, we invite you to become a part of our life-saving work. Please visit our website to view our current adoptable pets, or contact us at 914.632.2925 to schedule an appointment. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend!
