Our History and Legacy
Founded in 1873, we are the oldest humane society in Ohio and the fourth established in the United States. For over 150 years, we have served the Greater Cincinnati community by prioritizing care and respect for all animals, ensuring our region remains a better place for pets and the people who care for them.
How We Care for Animals
As a managed admission shelter, we provide compassionate care that prepares every animal for their new home, including medical treatment, enrichment, and love. Our commitment goes beyond the shelter doors as we work to prevent pet surrender through behavioral training, food assistance, and community partnerships. Every animal in our care receives essential health support, from vaccinations to microchipping, to ensure they are ready for a fresh start.
