The Humane Society of the North Bay is a dedicated network of volunteers and staff working to provide shelter and compassionate care to our community’s animals in need. We are committed to strengthening the lifelong bond between animals and people through advocacy and support.
Established in 1986, we have spent nearly four decades finding permanent homes for thousands of homeless cats and dogs. Formerly known as the Benicia-Vallejo Humane Society, we remain an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on serving our local community.
We are a proud no-kill shelter, where animals are never euthanized for space or length of stay. Our facility acts as a safe harbor for lost, abandoned, or surrendered pets, while our robust foster network provides additional support for those who need extra time to grow, heal, or socialize before finding their forever family.
We believe that every animal deserves a loving, permanent home, and our process is designed to ensure the perfect match for both you and your new companion. Because we know these animals intimately, our adoption counselors work closely with you to find a pet whose personality and needs align perfectly with your lifestyle.
You can’t buy love, but you can rescue it. We invite you to view our available dogs and cats on our website or visit us in Vallejo to meet your future best friend. Whether you choose to adopt, volunteer, or provide a foster home, your support helps us continue our life-saving work for the homeless animals of the North Bay.
