High Country Humane transforms lives by providing exceptional animal care and adoption services while supporting and strengthening the bond between pets and people. We are dedicated to advocating for the well-being of all animals and ensuring they live free of suffering.
Our Story
Founded in 2018 through the collaboration of local leaders and animal welfare advocates, High Country Humane was established to bring a modern, compassionate standard of care to Flagstaff and Coconino County. We emerged from a community-wide effort to fill a critical gap in local services, ultimately finding our home in a facility gifted to the county for the purpose of housing animals.
How We Care
We operate as a community-focused hub for animal welfare, offering a professional shelter environment supported by a dedicated network of foster families. Every animal in our care receives medical attention, behavioral evaluation, and plenty of love while they await their forever families. We are proud to serve as a resource for the community, providing everything from low-cost vaccinations and spay/neuter services to an essential pet food bank.
