The goal of the Effingham County Humane Society is to reduce animal suffering in our county through educating and promoting responsible pet ownership. We are dedicated to supporting spaying and neutering, appropriate pet identification, proper care, and the quality adoption of homeless pets.
Since 1979, we have been committed to serving Effingham County and the surrounding area. Our non-profit organization is housed in the former Funkhouser School, where we continue our work thanks to the generous support of our community through contributions, fundraising, and adoption fees.
We believe in the power of teamwork to create positive outcomes for animals in our care. Our shelter is managed by an amazing team of staff and a dedicated Board of Directors who work tirelessly to ensure our mission is fulfilled every single day.
We are experts at helping make the right match for a lifetime of friendship. An adoption is truly an act of kindness and mercy, but it is also an opportunity for immeasurable joy, connection, and love. We are committed to helping you find just the right animal for your unique lifestyle.
We invite you to take the next step in making a difference for animals in Effingham County. Whether you are ready to open your heart to a new companion or simply want to learn more about our work, we look forward to meeting you.
