P.A.L.S. No-Kill Cat Shelter is dedicated to protecting and enriching the lives of Maine cats through shelter, affordable care, and compassionate adoption services. Our History and Mission

Since our founding in 1980, P.A.L.S. has been a cornerstone for homeless cats in Winthrop and beyond. For over 40 years, we have relied entirely on the support of our community—including members, donors, and volunteers—rather than public funding, to ensure our doors stay open for those who need us most.

A Different Kind of Shelter

At P.A.L.S., we prioritize comfort and well-being. Instead of traditional cages, our 140–175 resident cats enjoy spacious, open rooms where they can roam, play, and socialize freely. Our dedicated staff provides individualized medical care and plenty of love, ensuring that every cat feels safe and nurtured while they wait for their forever home.
