Foothill Dog Rescue of the Sierras is dedicated to rescuing dogs in need of a second chance, providing them with a new home and a new leash on life. Our goal is to connect these wonderful dogs with well-matched forever families.
Founded in March 2013, our organization was created to make a meaningful difference for dogs in shelters who find themselves there through no fault of their own. We serve our community by re-homing dogs from high-kill shelters and assisting owners who can no longer care for their pets, while also supporting vital spay/neuter and vaccination efforts in underserved areas.
We are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff, fueled by a passionate network of 150-180 volunteers. Because we do not have an overnight boarding facility, our dogs thrive in safe, nurturing foster homes where they receive love, socialization, and essential care. We provide our foster families with everything they need, including food, crates, toys, training, and comprehensive medical care until their foster dog finds a permanent home.
We believe that every adoption is the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Our dedicated volunteers strive to truly get to know each dog to determine their unique personality and needs, ensuring we find the perfect fit for your lifestyle. Every dog is fully vetted before adoption, including spay/neuter services, vaccinations, microchipping, and any necessary medical attention.
We invite you to meet our available dogs at one of our Saturday adoption events in Shingle Springs. You can also view our adoptable dogs online or learn more about how you can support our mission through donations or volunteering. We look forward to helping you find a new, loving addition to your family.
