Nassau Humane Society improves the lives of homeless animals in our community by providing them shelter and compassionate care. We are dedicated to a future where every unwanted pet finds a loving home.
Why We Are Here
Founded on a commitment to compassion, our work addresses the most pressing animal welfare challenges in Nassau County, from overpopulation to pets with nowhere else to go. We believe every animal deserves a second chance, so we provide medical care and safety to pets in our facility and extend our support to those in need at overcrowded shelters in surrounding areas.
How We Care
Our shelter is a community-powered facility where animals receive daily enrichment, medical care, and plenty of love while they await their forever families. We are proud to be a dedicated partner in animal welfare, offering adoption services, foster programs, spay/neuter initiatives for community cats, and a pet food bank to help keep families together. Our operations are made possible entirely by our generous community, through volunteers, donors, and the support of our resale stores.
