Joint Animal Services is dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership, enforcing animal-related laws, and fostering a safe, compassionate environment for the pets and citizens of Thurston County.
Since 1977, we have served as the primary regional animal shelter and control agency for the communities of Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and unincorporated Thurston County. Funded by these local jurisdictions, we are here to bridge the gap between people and the homeless animals in our area, ensuring every pet receives the support they deserve.
We operate out of an 8,000-square-foot facility nestled on five acres of wooded land, designed to serve as a supportive temporary home for animals in transition. As an open-admission shelter, our staff and volunteers provide quality daily care, enrichment, and medical attention in collaboration with local veterinarians to prepare our animals for their forever families.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to helping you find the right companion for your lifestyle. We encourage you to bring your family to the shelter to meet our pets, ensuring a harmonious transition for everyone involved. Whether you are looking for a playful puppy or a quiet senior friend, our dedicated team is here to guide you through a thoughtful, transparent adoption process.
Your journey to finding a new best friend starts here, and we invite you to view our currently available pets online or visit us during our open hours. By choosing to adopt through Joint Animal Services, you are helping us continue our vital work for the community and giving a deserving animal a fresh start. We look forward to meeting you and helping you start your next chapter together.
