At VOCAL, our mission is to solve the homeless pet problem because every animal deserves an advocate, every person deserves compassion, and every life matters. We are driven to create a positive, animal-friendly community through prevention, community outreach, adoption, and collaboration.
Founded in 2015 by Linda Norman, Kate Rengel, and Lauren Carpenter, VOCAL began with a vision to stop pet overpopulation at its source. Today, we have evolved into a lifeline for Marion County, providing veterinary care, food assistance, and advocacy to ensure that pets can stay safely in their loving homes.
We operate as a 501(c)3 non-profit centered around our Community Clinic & Resource Center in Ocala. Our team of licensed veterinarians, technicians, and volunteers works tirelessly to provide low-cost medical services, life-saving surgeries, and vital support to rescue organizations and local pet owners alike.
We pride ourselves in placing the right pets with the right families. We treat the animals in our care as family members, which is why we utilize a thorough and compassionate process to ensure every adoption is a perfect, lifelong match for both the pet and you.
Ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to explore our available dogs and cats on our website or visit us during our open adoption hours every Wednesday and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.
