The Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation of Winston-Salem (AARF) is dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes for dogs and cats through rescue, foster care, veterinary services, and education. We envision a future where all pets live in safe, secure homes surrounded by the love and respect they deserve.
AARF was founded in 1995 by a group of passionate individuals committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of homeless animals. Over the decades, we have grown from a small group into a vital community resource, moving into our state-of-the-art, 6,000-square-foot facility in 2022 to better serve the pets of the greater Winston-Salem area.
As a compassionate no-kill organization, we offer a path to a new life for animals that others might overlook, including those with complex medical or behavioral needs. We operate through a dedicated network of foster families and skilled team members, ensuring every animal receives professional veterinary care and personalized support until they find their perfect match.
We believe that adoption is a joyful, life-changing partnership, which is why we take great care in matching every animal to a home that fits their unique temperament and lifestyle. Our individualized, relational adoption process ensures that both the pet and the family are well-prepared for a lifetime of happiness together.
