The Humane Society of Charlotte is dedicated to championing the wellbeing of companion animals and strengthening the bond they share with the people who love them. We believe in building a future where every animal receives the physical, medical, and emotional care they deserve, ensuring they lead healthy and rewarding lives.
Since our founding in 1978, we have been working to improve the Greater Charlotte region by creating new, loving families for animals in need. We are a private, independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies entirely on the generosity of our community, as we receive no government funding to sustain our vital work.
Operating from our Animal Resource Center, we follow the tenets of socially conscious sheltering to treat every animal as an individual. We provide a blend of high-quality shelter care, behavior support, and enrichment, while our clinic services offer affordable veterinary care, spay/neuter surgeries, and essential resources to help keep pets in their homes.
We see adoption as a transformative partnership, and we are committed to helping you find the perfect match for your lifestyle. Our team focuses on a personal, supportive experience that reduces stress for animals and empowers adopters to make informed decisions for their new family members.
Your support is the heartbeat of our organization, and there are many ways to get involved, from visiting our adoption center to volunteering or donating. We invite you to view our currently adoptable dogs and cats, or reach out to our team to learn how you can help us build a more humane Charlotte for everyone.
