Bloomington Animal Care and Control is dedicated to addressing all animal needs in our community through education, enforcement, and support. We work to build a future where every animal is valued, respected, and treated with kindness.
As a division of the Department of Public Works, we operate the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter to serve the animals and residents of our community. We believe in providing a safe environment while actively working toward our commitment of finding loving, lifelong homes for one hundred percent of our adoptable feline and canine companions.
We are proud of our compassionate care model, which relies on our dedicated staff, volunteers, and an incredible foster network. In 2024 alone, foster families opened their homes to over 1,800 animals, providing the socialization, training, and love necessary to prepare them for their forever families. This community-wide effort is a vital part of our mission to save lives every day.
We want to create the best possible match between you and your new furry best friend. Our adoption counseling process is designed to be a personal, thoughtful experience where we learn about your lifestyle and expectations to help guide you toward a companion that is truly the perfect fit for your home.
We invite you to stop by our facility at 3410 S. Walnut St. during our adoption hours to meet the wonderful animals currently waiting for their new families. Whether you are looking for a dog, cat, or small animal, our team is excited to assist you in making a lifelong connection. You can also view our currently available companions on our website to begin your journey today.
