The Placer SPCA is dedicated to enhancing the lives of companion animals and supporting the human-animal bond. We envision a community where every companion animal is safe, cared for, and treated with kindness.
What started in 1973 as a group of animal-loving volunteers has blossomed into a vital community staple. For over 50 years, we have served as a best-practice model for animal welfare, providing a bridge to a brighter future for the thousands of homeless animals we care for each year.
As the largest animal welfare provider in Placer County, we operate through several specialized facilities, including our Adoption & Education Center and the Veterinary & Foster Care Center. We provide a compassionate, whole-animal approach to care that emphasizes health, socialization, and thoughtful behavior evaluations to help every pet thrive.
Adoption is a wonderful journey, and we are here to ensure it starts on the right paw. We take the time to get to know each animal’s unique personality, history, and needs so we can help you find a partner who truly fits your lifestyle. Our team is committed to making this transition smooth and joyful for both you and your new family member.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to explore our available animals online or visit our Adoption & Education Center in Roseville to see firsthand how our shelter pets are waiting for their second chance at love. Your support makes our work possible, and we look forward to welcoming you into our community.
