The Humane Society of Harrisburg Area is dedicated to building a better community for pets and people through compassion, protection, education, and collaboration. We believe that by supporting our community, we can create brighter futures for every animal in our care.
Who We Are
Proudly serving Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties, we are a compassionate resource for homeless, abandoned, and lost pets. In 2024, we reached a major milestone by being named a No-Kill shelter by Best Friends Animal Society, reflecting our commitment to ensuring that every healthy or treatable animal finds a positive outcome.
Our Care Model
Our facility is designed with animal enrichment in mind, featuring temperature-controlled kennels and spacious outdoor play yards. We also rely on a dedicated team of foster families who provide temporary, loving homes for animals needing extra support, such as those recovering from medical treatment or those who are simply too young for adoption.
