Lake Oconee Humane Society is dedicated to creating a more humane community by reducing pet homelessness. We strive to ensure pets and their caregivers enjoy the best quality of life through rescue, adoption, and community support programs.
Our Story
For 25 years, our organization—formerly known as Oconee Regional Humane Society—has been a cornerstone of animal welfare in the Lake Oconee region. We are driven by a vision where every companion animal lives in a safe and loving home, with the human-animal bond honored through constant compassion and respect.
How We Care
Our work is powered by a dedicated team and a network of volunteers who provide essential care for animals in our adoption center and in local foster homes. Beyond adoption, we serve the community through low-cost spay and neuter clinics, pet food distribution, and programs like Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return (TNVR) to help pets and their families thrive.
