Burke County Animal Services is dedicated to providing compassionate care for our community’s animals, focusing on reuniting lost pets with their families and finding loving forever homes for those in our care. We are committed to fostering a safe environment where every animal is treated with dignity.
Established as an independent department under the County Manager on August 5, 2019, our facility in Morganton serves as the heart of Burke County’s animal welfare efforts. We are a tax-funded department working diligently to support both the people and pets of our county.
Our shelter utilizes a managed intake model, which allows us to save more lives and ensure every animal receives the attention they deserve. Every cat, kitten, dog, and puppy available for adoption receives essential care, including spay/neuter surgery, core vaccinations, and preventative treatments before heading home.
Choosing to adopt is a life-changing decision, and our staff is here to help you find the perfect companion to fit your lifestyle. We believe that thoughtful matching is the secret to a lasting, joyful partnership between you and your new pet. By adopting, you aren't just finding a friend—you are making a meaningful impact on the life of an animal in need.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our list of adoptable animals online or visit our facility at 636 Kirksey Drive in Morganton.
