Save Our Cats and Kittens (SOCKS) is a limited intake, free-roaming shelter dedicated to enhancing the well-being of every cat we serve through compassionate medical care, thoughtful adoption, and community education. We strive to reshape societal attitudes to create a future where every feline is safe, supported, and loved.
Our Journey
What began in our founder Sara DeMonbrun’s home in 1993 has grown into a vital 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Okaloosa, Walton, and Santa Rosa counties. Inspired by the simple act of feeding neighborhood strays, our organization remains deeply committed to providing a sanctuary for cats who have lost their homes due to life changes, medical needs, or other challenges.
Our Care Model
SOCKS operates a limited intake, free-roaming shelter that provides a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens while they wait for their forever families. We are proud of our comprehensive approach, which includes veterinary care, a dedicated foster network, and specialized community programs like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to address feline overpopulation humanely. Our work is made possible entirely through the generous support of our community, donors, and our thrift store.
