Save Our Cats and Kittens (SOCKS) is a limited intake, free-roaming shelter dedicated to enhancing the well-being of every cat we serve through compassionate medical care, thoughtful adoption, and community education. We strive to reshape societal attitudes to create a future where every feline is safe, supported, and loved.
What began in our founder Sara DeMonbrun’s home in 1993 has grown into a vital 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Okaloosa, Walton, and Santa Rosa counties. Inspired by the simple act of feeding neighborhood strays, our organization remains deeply committed to providing a sanctuary for cats who have lost their homes due to life changes, medical needs, or other challenges.
SOCKS operates a limited intake, free-roaming shelter that provides a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens while they wait for their forever families. We are proud of our comprehensive approach, which includes veterinary care, a dedicated foster network, and specialized community programs like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to address feline overpopulation humanely. Our work is made possible entirely through the generous support of our community, donors, and our thrift store.
We believe that every cat has a unique personality, and our experienced team is here to help you find the perfect match for your home and lifestyle. Our thoughtful adoption process ensures that each cat is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, setting the stage for a long and happy life together. Whether you are looking for a playful kitten or a calm senior companion, we are here to guide you every step of the way.
