At PAWS of Coronado, we are dedicated to advocating for animal welfare by providing compassionate adoption and rehabilitation services for the animals in our care. Our vision is simple yet profound: we strive for every animal to have a safe, loving, and permanent forever home.
Rooted in Compassion
Founded in 2003 by Dorothy “Louise” Shirey, PAWS was born from a deep commitment to the abandoned and displaced animals of our community. Louise’s lifelong dedication established a vital partnership with the City of Coronado, ensuring a trusted local organization exists to provide comprehensive support for our furry neighbors.
Our Care Model
Our life-saving work thrives through a combination of high-quality facility care and a dedicated foster network. By offering medical treatment, behavioral support, and plenty of love, we prepare each animal for their next chapter. We are proud members of the San Diego Animal Welfare Coalition and are committed to maintaining a high standard of care for every pet that passes through our doors.
