At PAWS of Coronado, we are dedicated to advocating for animal welfare by providing compassionate adoption and rehabilitation services for the animals in our care. Our vision is simple yet profound: we strive for every animal to have a safe, loving, and permanent forever home.
Founded in 2003 by Dorothy “Louise” Shirey, PAWS was born from a deep commitment to the abandoned and displaced animals of our community. Louise’s lifelong dedication established a vital partnership with the City of Coronado, ensuring a trusted local organization exists to provide comprehensive support for our furry neighbors.
Our life-saving work thrives through a combination of high-quality facility care and a dedicated foster network. By offering medical treatment, behavioral support, and plenty of love, we prepare each animal for their next chapter. We are proud members of the San Diego Animal Welfare Coalition and are committed to maintaining a high standard of care for every pet that passes through our doors.
Adoption is the beginning of a beautiful partnership, and we are here to help you find your purr-fect forever friend. Our team works hard to understand the personalities and needs of our animals, ensuring that every placement is thoughtful and set up for long-term success. Whether you are looking for a playful pup or a sweet cat, we invite you to discover the joy that comes with rescuing a life.
Ready to meet your new best friend or support our mission? We invite you to view our adoptable pets online or visit us at the Coronado Animal Care Facility to see our current residents. Your support—whether through adoption, volunteering, or donations—makes a tangible difference in the lives of the animals who need us most.
