At Al-Van Humane Society, we are dedicated to compassionately serving companion animals in our community by providing the best shelter, adoptive homes, education, and resources available. We believe that every pet deserves love, care, and above all, a home.
Founded in 1968, Al-Van began as an organization focused on providing emergency food and shelter to homeless pets. Since 2012, we have proudly operated as a no-kill shelter, supporting over 600 animals annually throughout Allegan and Van Buren counties.
Operating out of our Adoption & Community Education Center in South Haven, we focus on responsible pet ownership and reducing the number of stray and unwanted animals. Before finding their forever families, every animal in our care is spayed or neutered and microchipped to ensure a healthy and safe transition. We also offer community education and partner with local resources to support the needs of pets and their people.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to helping you find a companion that fits your lifestyle. Our team utilizes a thoughtful matching process, including surveys and meet-and-greets, to ensure that both you and your new pet are set up for a lifetime of happiness. Whether you are looking for a playful puppy or a senior cat, we are here to support you in creating a lasting bond.
