The Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society (MACS) is dedicated to serving animals through humane education, compassionate rescue, and permanent adoption. We work tirelessly to unite lost pets with their families and support the well-being of every animal that comes through our doors.
A Legacy of Compassion
Since 1935, MACS has provided a safe refuge for stray, injured, and forgotten animals in Detroit. As the city’s last open-admission shelter, we are proud to be a consistent beacon of hope for animals in need, never turning a pet away based on breed, temperament, or health.

We provide extensive care through our on-site shelter and veterinary clinic, ensuring every animal receives the attention they deserve.
