Our Mission
Wolf Trap Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving high-risk animals from neglect, homelessness, and euthanasia. We believe in providing top-quality care and finding the perfect forever homes for every animal in our program.
Our Commitment to Change
Founded in 2015, we operate by identifying pets in need, primarily in the South, where overpopulation often leads to shelter overcrowding. By coordinating emergency transports to Northern Virginia, we provide these animals with a fresh start and the medical attention they deserve. Our work allows local shelters to redirect their resources toward the most vulnerable residents, creating a positive impact for animal welfare across multiple states.
The WTAR Difference
We are proud to be one of the only veterinarian-led animal rescue organizations in the country, with a primary focus on pet health. Every rescue undergoes an extensive 21-day veterinary quarantine in our specialty-trained foster homes to ensure they are thriving before finding their new family. Because we use advanced pediatric spay-neuter techniques and provide top-of-the-line medical care, our adopters can rest assured they are bringing home the healthiest companions possible.
