Oregon Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to placing dogs in the best possible homes while ensuring long-term adoption success. We are a no-kill shelter committed to providing a safe, loving environment for every dog in our care.
Founded in 2007 by Deb Bowen and Krystyna Schmidt, our organization draws on years of rescue experience to serve the greater Portland area. We bridge the gap for dogs coming from overcrowded local facilities, high-kill shelters, and owner surrenders, offering them a second chance at a happy life.
Our Portland facility can accommodate up to 125 dogs, who spend their days socializing in vibrant playrooms, enjoying walks with our volunteers, and receiving medical care from our dedicated staff. From spaying and neutering to microchipping and daily enrichment, every pup receives the attention they deserve while they wait for their forever family. It truly takes a village—supported by staff, foster homes, and volunteers—to provide the high standard of care our rescues need.
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, and our team is personally devoted to making the perfect match for you and your new companion. Because we take the time to evaluate each dog’s personality and needs, we help ensure a transition that is comfortable and sustainable for everyone involved. We provide support for the lifetime of your pet, remaining your partner long after you head home.
Your next best friend is waiting to meet you! We invite you to view our adoptable dogs online or visit our facility in Portland to request an adoption appointment. Together, we can change a life and find the perfect addition to your family.
