Our Mission

The Huntington County Humane Society exists to protect and provide shelter for animals and to encourage the humane treatment of all animals in Huntington County. We strive to save lives and enhance animal well-being, building a community that values our companions as lifelong family members.

Our History and Purpose

Serving the entire county of Huntington since 1972, we are a private, independent, 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. We rely on the generous support of our community, alongside contractual partnerships with the city and county, to enforce animal-related ordinances and provide essential care for animals in need.

How We Help

While the majority of our residents are cats and dogs, we provide a safe, temporary haven for all animals brought to us, including farm animals and small pets affected by neglect. Beyond the shelter, we are committed to keeping families together through our STAY Pet Retention Program, which offers resources like behavioral support, low-cost vaccinations, and spay/neuter assistance to help pets thrive in their homes.
