Founded in 2007, the Oklahoma Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the well-being of animals and empowering our communities to care for their pets. Our vision is a future where every healthy and adoptable animal in Oklahoma City finds a loving home.
We work in close partnership with Oklahoma City Animal Welfare and other local shelters to eliminate the needless euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals. As a 501(c)3 organization funded solely by donations, grants, and bequests, we believe that Oklahoma will one day be a community that fully values and cares for every animal.
The Oklahoma Humane Society operates as a foster-based rescue, meaning our animals are cared for in a network of loving foster homes across the region while they await their forever families. By utilizing foster homes, we are able to provide personalized care, socialization, and medical support in a quiet environment that helps pets thrive until they are ready for adoption.
We are deeply committed to finding the best match for both the animals in our care and our adopters. Our adoption specialists provide a thoughtful, guided process, including an interview and questionnaire, to ensure every placement is a lifelong, joyful partnership. When you adopt, you are welcoming a pet that has been microchipped, spayed or neutered, and treated with age-appropriate vaccinations.
