The Humane Society of Catawba County promotes animal welfare by providing compassionate care to homeless companion animals and leading our region in education and life-saving initiatives. Our vision is a future where no adoptable animal in Catawba County is euthanized and every pet is treated with the kindness they deserve.
Our Story
Founded in 1971 as the Western Piedmont Humane Society, our organization has evolved significantly to meet the growing needs of our community. Since the opening of the Pat Anderson Center for Animal Adoption and the Foothills Spay/Neuter Clinic in 2007, we have remained a dedicated, brick-and-mortar hub for animal services, ensuring local families have the support they need to care for their pets.
How We Care
At our facility, we are committed to giving every animal a fresh start through attentive care and medical support. Our adoptable dogs and cats receive comprehensive wellness checks, vaccinations, and spay or neuter surgeries before they find their forever families. We also prioritize community support through our Pet Food Pantry and low-cost wellness clinics, ensuring that pets stay healthy and with the people who love them.
