Kalamazoo Animal Rescue is devoted to providing refuge, medical care, and a nurturing environment for homeless, stray, and unwanted cats and dogs. Our ultimate goal is to find every animal a permanent, loving home.
Founded in 1991, we began as an all-volunteer, foster-based organization dedicated to helping animals in need. Over the past 30 years, we have grown significantly, transitioning into a licensed shelter in 2017 and moving into our own facility in 2023 to better serve our community.
As a closed-intake, no-kill organization, we focus on providing basic necessities and medical attention to every animal in our care. Our services extend beyond rescue, including a low-cost wellness clinic launched in 2020 and an in-house spay and neuter clinic to address pet overpopulation in Southwest Michigan.
Adopting an animal from Kalamazoo Animal Rescue is a rewarding journey that saves two lives: the animal you welcome home and the next pet waiting for our support. We take great care to ensure each match is a healthy, safe, and long-lasting fit for both the animal and your family. Every adoptable pet is spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and thoroughly vetted before joining your family.
We are here until every animal has a home, but we cannot do it without you. We invite you to view our currently adoptable cats and dogs online, visit our shelter in Portage, or consider volunteering or fostering to help us save more lives. Thank you for your support in making a difference for animals in our community.
