Founded in 1893, the Meriden Humane Society is dedicated to saving animals and creating families through our work as a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter and rescue facility. We believe that every cat and dog deserves a loving home, and we work tirelessly to ensure each animal receives the care and second chance they deserve.
For over 130 years, we have served as a vital resource for our community, stepping in to care for animals from high-risk situations and those surrendered by owners who can no longer provide for them. We are a privately run, independent organization that relies entirely on the generosity of our patrons and community supporters, as we are not affiliated with other humane societies and do not receive state or federal funding.
Our facility is a safe haven where we care for animals 365 days a year. We combine the efforts of our dedicated staff and an amazing team of volunteers to provide medical support, daily care, and enrichment for our cats and dogs. By utilizing both our shelter facility and our foster network, we are able to provide specialized care for seniors, nursing mothers, and animals in need of medical recovery.
Bringing a rescue animal into your life is a joyful partnership that begins with finding the perfect match. We are committed to a thoughtful, transparent adoption process that ensures our animals are placed in homes where they will thrive. Our team is here to guide you through this rewarding journey as you prepare to welcome a new feline or canine companion into your family.
Your support makes our work possible. We invite you to explore our list of adoptable animals online, check our Facebook page for upcoming events, or learn how you can help by volunteering or donating to our cause. Whether you are ready to adopt, foster, or simply learn more, we would love to connect with you.
