Our Mission
The Cats About Town Society (C.A.T.S.) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to stopping the suffering of homeless and abandoned cats and kittens. We work to ensure every feline in our care finds a safe, loving, and permanent home.
Our Story
Incorporated on March 19, 1998, C.A.T.S. was founded to rescue, protect, and support cats in the Sacramento area. By operating as an all-volunteer group, we focus every available resource directly on the well-being and medical needs of the animals we serve.
A Foster-Based Approach
We believe in the power of a home environment to help animals thrive. Most of our rescued cats and kittens live with loving foster families until they are ready for adoption, which allows us to provide personalized care, socialization, and a deep understanding of each pet’s unique personality.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
Our foster families get to know their kitties intimately, allowing us to share meaningful insights into each cat's likes, quirks, and needs with prospective adopters. Because we prioritize the success of every adoption, we conduct thorough health checks, including spay/neuter services and vaccinations, before our cats ever meet their new families.
