Our Mission
The Bergen County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is dedicated to promoting the humane treatment of all animals while providing comprehensive care and support for our community. We strive to create hopeful beginnings by reuniting lost pets with their owners and connecting adoptable animals with loving forever homes.
Serving Our Community Since 1979
Since opening our doors in 1979, we have served as a cornerstone of animal welfare for 49 towns across Bergen and Hudson Counties. Our team is committed to responsible pet ownership and community education, ensuring that every animal in our care receives the dignity and respect they deserve.
Our Approach to Care
We are an open-admission facility, designated as a No-Kill shelter since 2015, with the capacity to care for up to 90 dogs and 350 cats at any given time. Our work is powered by a vibrant, active network of dedicated staff, volunteers, foster families, and rescue partners who collaborate to provide a safe, enriching environment. Whether through our spay/neuter initiatives or our comprehensive behavioral support programs, we work tirelessly to ensure our animals are ready for their next chapter.
