Our Story
Since our founding in Decorah, Iowa in 1995, the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa (HSNEI) has served as a dedicated resource for animals in Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek counties. As a private, independent nonprofit, we are deeply committed to strengthening the human-animal bond throughout our 5-county region.

Our work is powered by a community-focused model that combines veterinary wellness services with a safe haven for animals in need. We provide comprehensive care including medical treatments, behavioral support, and enrichment, ensuring that every cat and dog is prepared for a successful transition into a loving home.
