Stray Haven Humane Society is dedicated to ensuring the protection of animals through education and service. We are committed to fostering a world where every animal receives the compassionate care and support they deserve.
Founded in 1967 by Elaine Forkan, Stray Haven began as a volunteer-based nonprofit working out of a repurposed smokehouse. Since transitioning to a 501(c)(3) organization in 1971 and settling into our current location, we have proudly served Tioga County and the Greater Valley area for over 50 years.
We are a dedicated no-kill animal shelter, a policy we have proudly upheld since 2011. Our operations are made possible through the hard work of our staff and volunteers, alongside the support of generous donors who help us cover medical and hygiene costs. We provide essential short-term residential care for animals in need as they prepare for their next chapter.
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and our team is focused on pairing our residents with their perfect forever homes. By prioritizing the health and well-being of every animal, we ensure that every adoption is a positive experience for both the pet and their new family. Whether you are looking for a cat, dog, or puppy, we are here to help you find your new best friend.
We invite you to see us in person at 194 Shepard Road in Waverly, NY, to meet our adoptable residents during our normal business hours. You can also explore our available pets online or learn how you can support our mission by making a donation. We look forward to connecting you with a companion who will bring love and happiness to your home.
