Welcome to the Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART), a dedicated non-profit organization located in the beautiful community of Cambria, California. Established in February 1983, HART operates as a volunteer service organization and a no-kill shelter, passionately committed to the well-being of kittens and cats in need. Our mission is threefold: we focus on rescuing and caring for homeless felines, placing these loving animals in permanent, caring homes, and actively working to reduce feline overpopulation through our spay/neuter initiatives. Every cat that comes to HART is spayed or neutered, which plays a crucial role in decreasing the number of abandoned and stray animals in our community. At HART, we believe in ensuring a quality life for all creatures, both feral and domestic. This philosophy drives our efforts as we provide a safe refuge for our feline residents, operate a feral cat colony management program, and run various adoption initiatives, including our "Seniors for Seniors" program, which connects senior citizens with senior cats for companionship. Founded by a small group of passionate volunteers, HART has grown significantly over the decades, transitioning from fostering animals in private homes to operating from our established shelter at 2638 Main Street, which we purchased in 2012.
