Welcome to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan, located at 5400 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI. Our dedicated team is passionate about the welfare of animals, and we firmly believe that 'It's All About the Animals.' As we emerge from the challenges posed by the pandemic, we are rejuvenating our commitment to our furry friends and enhancing our connection with the community.
At our shelter, you will find a staff deeply dedicated to the care and well-being of the animals. We have successfully helped 90 cats and 75 dogs find their forever homes in recent months, and we are proud to have facilitated a remarkable 579 adoptions in 2024 alone. Our mission extends beyond adoptions; we work closely with local Animal Control and veterinary partners to address overpopulation through spaying and neutering programs, ensuring a healthier future for our pets.
We believe in the power of education and strive to foster a community that is informed and responsible when it comes to pet ownership. Our engagement initiatives, including events and resources like Ember's Teaching Moments, aim to improve the lives of pets and their families in our area.
Your support is crucial to our mission. The shelter is always in need of various supplies, from food to cleaning materials, and any donations, whether financial or items from our Amazon wish list, are greatly appreciated. Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of animals and their adopters.
We warmly invite you to visit us during our hours of operation—Tuesday to Friday from 11 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. We welcome walk-ins to meet our cats, while appointments are needed for dog interactions. Join us in our efforts to create a better future for our community's pets and become part of our mission at the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan!
