Since 1973, the Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center (HSPRAC) has been dedicated to relieving suffering and enhancing the lives of animals through humane care and community education. We are proud to serve as a beacon of hope for homeless and abandoned pets in the Gadsden and Attalla areas.
HSPRAC was incorporated by a group of community leaders and local professionals with the original goal of serving as a compassionate alternative for animal care. From our humble beginnings to the opening of our modern 14,000 square-foot facility in 2008, our mission remains grounded in providing a safe haven for animals in need while actively supporting our community.
As a non-profit organization, we operate a dedicated Pet Rescue and Adoption Center that serves as both a shelter and a resource for the public. Our team provides essential veterinary care, nutritious food, and temporary housing for hundreds of pets each year, including strays and animals involved in welfare investigations. We are supported by a passionate community of volunteers and a dedicated staff who work tirelessly to ensure every animal receives the attention they deserve.
Adoption is a joyful journey, and we are committed to helping you find the perfect companion to complete your family. By choosing to adopt, you are not just providing a home; you are saving a life and becoming a vital part of our mission. Every pet in our care brings their own unique story and a heart full of love ready to be shared with a new family.
We invite you to come meet our wonderful current dogs and cats and discover the bond that awaits you at our facility on 4200 Brooke Ave in Gadsden. Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer your time, or support our efforts through donations, your involvement helps us continue this important work. We look forward to welcoming you to the HSPRAC family!
