Summit's Sanctuary strives to provide comfort, compassion, and care to animals in need while engaging the hearts and minds of our community to assure that no animal is ever abandoned. Every animal welcomed into our care is treated with the same dignity and unconditional love that inspired our founding.
Our organization was founded by Lisa Chandler in honor of Summit, a beautiful white Labrador Retriever and certified therapy dog who spent years providing comfort to children. After Summit passed away in 2017, his legacy of service inspired us to create a rescue dedicated to protecting loyal companions. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue proudly serving North East Alabama and North West Georgia.
Summit's Sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and advocating for dogs in need. We operate with the support of a passionate community of volunteers who assist with transportation, event support, and daily care at the shelter. By providing medical care, socialization, and a safe environment, we ensure our dogs are ready for their next chapter.
We believe that adoption is a joyful, lifelong partnership, which is why we are committed to making the best matches based on a dog's unique personality and your family's lifestyle. Our team carefully considers factors like temperament, energy levels, and needs to ensure that every placement is a permanent one. We are here to support you in finding the right friend who will fit perfectly into your home.
If you are ready to open your home to a dog in need, we invite you to browse our available dogs and learn more about our adoption process.
