The primary goal of the Ozark-Dale County Humane Society is to rescue as many animals as possible from the Dale County area. We are dedicated to providing every animal in our care the best possible chance at finding a loving and safe forever home.
Established in October 2004 by the John Neher family, our organization was created to address the local need for animal rescue. Since our inception, we have functioned as a 501(c)3 non-profit shelter, operating within a facility leased from Dale County to provide a haven for abandoned and homeless cats and dogs.
As a volunteer-staffed, no-kill shelter, we rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters and the dedication of our amazing volunteers. We do not receive local, state, or federal funding, which means every donation of time, pet food, and financial support directly impacts the lives of our temporary boarders. While we work hard to care for our animals, our shelter relies on the patience and passion of our community to help us operate each day.
Our volunteers provide essential daily care, including walking dogs, grooming, and socializing our cats, ensuring each pet is ready for its new chapter. We believe that spending time with our animals makes a significant, positive contribution to their lives while they wait for their perfect match. Whether you are interested in a new furry friend or want to make a difference in a rescue animal's day, we invite you to join our family.
