East Alabama Humane Society
Our Mission
At the East Alabama Humane Society, our mission is to promote and enable saving the lives of as many unwanted dogs as possible. We are proud to be the only no-kill animal shelter serving Russell County, Alabama.
Our Story
Our journey began in April 2009 as a foster-based society using outdoor kennels. After years of dedicated fundraising and volunteer labor, we successfully renovated a donated warehouse into the indoor/outdoor shelter facility we call home today, opening our doors in May 2012.
Our Care Model
We are a non-profit organization that relies heavily on the generosity of our supporters and the hard work of our volunteers to maintain our facility. We strive to provide the highest quality of care for every animal, ensuring they are healthy, vaccinated, and microchipped while they wait for their perfect match.
The Adopter Connection
We believe that adding a pet to your family is a lifelong commitment, and our thoughtful matching process is designed to ensure a successful, lasting partnership. By taking the time to understand your lifestyle and the individual needs of our dogs, we help create meaningful connections that benefit both the adopter and the animal.
