Our Mission

The Humane Society of Elmore County is dedicated to ensuring the best possible quality of life for animals by preventing cruelty, stopping pet overpopulation, and promoting public health and safety. We strive for the humane care and well-being of all animals through community education and information.

Our Community Impact

Located in Wetumpka, Alabama, we have been a proud, non-profit 501(c)3 organization serving Elmore County for over 30 years. Our shelter operates as an open admission facility, providing a safe harbor and care for thousands of domestic animals annually.

How We Provide Care

Every day, our dedicated staff and volunteers work tirelessly to provide a humane and supportive environment for the 250-300+ animals in our care. We rely on the generous support of private donors, community members, and our local thrift store to meet our operational goals. We are committed to maintaining a high standard of welfare for every animal until they find their forever home.
